Part Time – Dental Health Community Worker
(2 days a week: Tuesday & Friday)
Hiring Range: $36/Hour – $40/Hour
Hamilton Urban Core is a thriving inner city health centre and a leader in the provision of high-quality primary health services and health promotion programs. Our comprehensive health services are delivered through a dynamic team of multidisciplinary, inter-professional health providers. As an inner-city health centre our client populations include individuals and families with chronic and complex health and social conditions, many of whom are living in poverty.
Working primarily with the Centre’s senior population, the Dental Health Community Worker will provide oral health care services including preventative dental health hygiene, oral health promotion and senior client education and participate in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services for seniors in the community. The suitable candidate must be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills. Our office is fully compliant with all COVID-19 protocols.
The successful candidate should have:
- A CDHO Registration (Registered Dental Hygienist).
- Need to be self-initiated.
- General or Specialty certificate of registration from the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario
- Experience working in a community setting.
- Excellent clinical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with seniors.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply the principles of health promotion, disease / injury prevention, and determinants of health.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to issues impacting on client populations in the inner city
- Proficiency in the use of computers in the work environment
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an inter-professional, multidisciplinary team.
- Oral Health Information Support System (OHISS) an asset
