Salary Range: $62,749.13 – $72,312.00
Hamilton Urban Core is a thriving inner city health centre and a leader in the provision of high-quality primary health services and health promotion programs. Our comprehensive health services are delivered through a dynamic team of inter-professional health providers. As an inner-city health centre our client populations include individuals and families with chronic and complex health and social conditions, many of whom are living in poverty.
The Registered Nurse (RN) functions as a member of the Consumption and Treatment
Service (CTS) team in the provision of harm reduction services to clients that access the
CTS, with a strong emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion. Working primarily with the Centre’s priority populations, the RN will provide primary health care services in addition to participating in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of services for individuals who use drugs.
The RN will be responsible for ensuring that clients are connected to support and treatment services through Hamilton Urban Core, partners, and community agencies.
The RN may also be delegated to serve as the Responsible Person in Charge on an interim basis and as needed. Our office is fully compliant with all COVID-19 protocols.
The successful candidate will have:
- A Certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals and communities who are marginalized
- Demonstrated work experience with individuals who use drugs
- Excellent clinical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply the principles of health promotion, disease/ injury prevention, and the determinants of health
- Understanding of and sensitivity to issues impacting populations in the inner city
- Demonstrated work experience with individuals within an anti-racism, anti- oppression culturally safe framework
- Proficiency in the use of computers within the work environment
- Flexible and able to work effectively independently as well as a member of an interprofessional, multidisciplinary team
