Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre Announces Opening Date of the Residential Treatment Site
Hamilton, ON (April 14, 2026) –Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre (Hamilton Urban Core) is pleased to announce July 6th as the opening date for the Residential Treatment and Recovery Site at 276 Aberdeen Ave. The organization has officially received building permit approval from the City of Hamilton, enabling the next phase of development to proceed. This announcement is in keeping with a promise to provide at least 60 days’ notice to the community regarding the opening date.
The retrofit work and site upgrades are scheduled to begin on April 22, 2026, marking the transition from planning to implementation. The Hamilton HART Hub is on track to deliver an evidence-based, structured residential treatment and recovery program designed to support individuals on their path to healing and long-term stability.
“This milestone reflects the dedication, collaboration, and shared commitment of our team, partners, and community,” said Dr. Sandy Ezepue, Executive Director of Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre. “The Residential Treatment and Recovery program is a transformative model of care that prioritizes dignity, recovery, and long-term outcomes for individuals with complex needs. We are pleased to move into this next phase of program development and look forward to opening our doors this summer.”
In parallel with construction activities, Hamilton Urban Core continues to advance operational readiness, including staffing, clinical program development, and coordinated referral pathways. Ongoing engagement with community members and stakeholders remains a priority, supported through established forums such as the Neighbourhood Liaison Table.
The Residential Treatment and Recovery program represents a critical investment in community-based, evidence-informed care, focused on providing safe, supportive, and person-centered treatment for individuals experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. The program is designed to complement existing HART Hub services across the continuum of care while strengthening pathways to recovery, stability, and reintegration into the community.
The Residential Treatment and Recovery program builds on Hamilton Urban Core’s longstanding leadership in health equity, integrated care, and innovative community-based solutions. Once operational, the program will further strengthen the region’s capacity to respond to substance use and mental health needs through a comprehensive treatment and recovery approach.
