Title: Support for the HART Hub Residential Treatment and Recovery Facility to be located at 276 Aberdeen Avenue, Hamilton, Ontario.
To the Honourable Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
We, the undersigned residents of Hamilton, Ontario, respectfully petition the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as follows:
Whereas:
1. Hamilton Urban Core Community Health Centre (Hamilton Urban Core) was funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health as the lead organization to establish the Homeless and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub program, in Hamilton, Ontario;
2. Hamilton Urban Core is a proven and experienced healthcare and social service provider, delivering primary healthcare, health promotion, mental health and addiction, and wraparound support services that address the needs of vulnerable populations with complex issues, including demonstrated expertise in working with individuals experiencing addiction and mental health challenges;
3. Substance use, mental health challenges, and related social issues continue to impact individuals, families, and communities in Hamilton;
4. Access to compassionate, evidence-based residential treatment and recovery services is critical to supporting individuals in achieving long-term recovery and reintegration into society;
5. The proposed HART Hub Residential Treatment and Recovery Facility at 276 Aberdeen Avenue is designed to provide safe, person-centered, and communityintegrated care, in alignment with best practices in residential treatment;
6. Community support and engagement are essential to the successful integration of such facilities, fostering understanding, safety, and collaboration between residents and program participants.
We, the undersigned, therefore respectfully request that the Legislative Assembly of Ontario:
• Support the establishment of the HART Hub Residential Treatment and Recovery Facility at 276 Aberdeen Avenue;
• Recognize the importance of providing accessible, high-quality recovery services to residents in Hamilton;
• Encourage continued collaboration between the HART Hub program, local residents, and community organizations to ensure the program’s success and positive community impact.
